PORT ST. JOE, Fla. – Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf (SHHG) has teamed up with Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic (TOC) to launch orthopedic services at the new hospital.

Dr. Garrison Rolle, an orthopedic surgeon with TOC who has advanced training in sport medicine and knee surgery, performed the first orthopedic surgeries at the new hospital on July. 9.  He is a graduate of the University of Florida College of Medicine and also completed fellowship training in sports medicine at the University of Florida.

“I am very excited to be at the new hospital,” said Dr. Rolle. “I have been part of several start-up programs at hospitals partnering with TOC, and this has been one of the easiest start-ups ever. Both the facility and the staff are great.” 

Tallahassee Orthopedic Clinic currently has a physician’s assistant who provides orthopedic services at an office in Port St. Joe. As demand for orthopedic services increase at Sacred Heart, TOC plans to add a full-time surgeon who will have offices inside the medical office building now under construction on the campus of SHHG.

Arion Ward was one of the first orthopedic patients to be seen by Dr. Rolle at the new hospital. Arion is a member of the football and basketball teams at Port St. Joe High School and needed to have his knee scoped as a result of an injury sustained in the last basketball game of the season against Mosley High School of Lynn Haven, Fla.

When asked about his hospital experience, Arion said, “It’s going well because I have family here with me and I don’t have to travel to Panama City for surgery. It will be nice to have access to physical therapy close to home too.”

Arion’s parents agreed about the convenience and quality of care available at the new hospital, making a special note of the outstanding service provided by the staff. They look forward to seeing their son back on the playing field soon.
