Sacred Heart Health System recently honored outstanding nurses in Pensacola and Miramar Beach during celebrations in conjunction with Nurses’ Week in May. Each year, fellow employees, physicians and patients submit recommendations for nurses for the Florence Nightingale Award and for the Nurse Excellence Awards, based on their commitment to criteria such as leadership, community involvement and educational development. This year’s winners are:

 2nd Annual Florence Nightingale Award: Carol McGhee, RN, inpatient oncology unit at Sacred Heart Hospital-Pensacola.

 Sacred Heart Hospital-Pensacola: Heidi Olsson, RN, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit; Peggy Abbott, LPN, Interventional Radiology; and Buffi Bailey, RN, Post-Anesthesia Care Unit Manager.

 Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast-Miramar Beach: Lisa Gonzalez, RN, Intensive Care Unit

 The Haven of Our Lady of Peace: Valerie Robinson, RN; Deb McKenzie, LPN; and Amy Tran, C.N.A.

 Sacred Heart Medical Group: Lillian Gormley, RN, Seton Center; Lawandria Stokes, LPN, Urgent Care Center on Hwy. 29; and Jill Morgan, Medical Assistant, Seton Center.

 Sacred Heart Medical Oncology Group: Patricia Boatner, RN, Sacred Heart Cancer Center.

 Gulf Coast Wings of Hope Award: Joyce Bryan, RN, of Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. This award is presented each year to an outstanding pediatric nurse by Gulf Coast Wings of Hope, an organization for parents of children coping with blood disorders.

In addition to these awards, special recognition went to Anita Sue Godwin, RN, Director of Nursing for Sacred Heart Medical Group. She was honored for her leadership, warmth, compassion and spirit of volunteerism.
