Port St. Joe, Fla. – Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf is seeking community-minded volunteers to greet guests and assist with special projects throughout the hospital. Morning, afternoon and evening shifts are available seven days a week.

“Our healthcare team would not be complete without the addition of countless community volunteers who add a special touch to everyone who enters the hospital,” said Sandra Todd-Atkinson, Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nurse Officer for Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf. “Our volunteers take great pride in being part of the Sacred Heart team, and we truly appreciate their willingness to serve the community.”

Several volunteers are still needed to fill the weekend and evening shifts. The evening shift offers two options: 4 to 7 p.m. or 6 to 9 p.m. The day shifts Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. have been filled. The rewards of volunteering are as individual as each volunteer, and all volunteers enjoy meal vouchers, free CPR classes, free flu vaccines and an open invitation to participate in Sacred Heart’s special events. The minimum age to become a volunteer is 14.

Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf, a 25-bed hospital, opened its doors to patient care on March 15.  The new $38 million hospital has a 24-hour emergency department, inpatient services, surgical services, a full complement of diagnostic and laboratory services, and a helipad to be used by Sacred Heart's regional air ambulance service to provide rapid transport for trauma or critically ill patients.

 Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf is part of Sacred Heart Health System based in Pensacola. Surveys by National Research Corporation have found that for 14 consecutive years, consumers in Northwest Florida have rated Sacred Heart Health System as the healthcare provider with the best reputation and best overall quality.
